EV Private Equity becomes a signatory of The Climate Pledge

Many scientists have warned that 2050 is too late to address catastrophic climate change, and more pressure is needed on industries, governments and regulators to take serious steps to drastically cut emissions much sooner. Energy is one industry under particular scrutiny; while oil and gas will remain part of the future energy mix, the energy sector is a big contributor to emissions and therefore needs to push even further to deliver on climate promises.

At EV Private Equity, we’re investing in technologies which support the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. We’re supporting decarbonisation of the energy industry as the world strives to meet Paris Agreement targets, and developing the technology needed to ensure a just transition over the coming years.

We’re also striving to creat sustainable shareholder value, within EV and our portfolio, through ESG measurement and monitoring with our own proprietary tool, EV IQ.

However, we believe that action needs to be accelerated which is why, as of today, we have become proud signatories of The Climate Pledge, a commitment to reach the Paris Agreement 10 years early and be net-zero carbon by 2040.

In 2019, Amazon and Global Optimism co-founded The Climate Pledge. Now with more than 100 signatories, including IBM, Microsoft and Unilever, this initative is sending a global signal around the importance of products and services that help reduce carbon emissions.

By signing this pledge, we have agreed to neutralise any remaining emissions with additional, quantifiable, real, permanent, and socially-beneficial offsets to achieve net-zero annual carbon emissions by 2040. In addition, we will also continue to measure and report greenhouse gas emissions on a regular basis, and implement decarbonisation strategies in line with the Paris Agreement through innovation.

Our Senior Partner, Anoop Poddar, explains more about what this commitment means for EV in this video.
