International Expansion for Well Integrity Evaluation Specialist READ Cased Hole

Aberdeen-based production and integrity evaluation specialist READ Cased Hole is expanding its footprint in the international oil and gas sector through an ambitious strategy to deliver significant growth and develop innovative new solutions for its customers.

The company, with a current workforce of over 40, has targeted investment in the recruitment of high-calibre industry talent to promote further North Sea growth and accelerate expansion in to new geographic areas, including the Middle East and Asia.

The expansion of its technical sales team and establishment of a new office in Perth, Australia, has already paid dividends with completion of READ’s first operations in Asia for a national exploration and production customer. This involved provision of READ’s industry-leading well integrity evaluation services on multiple wells on a high-value asset.

READ has also invested in its research and development team, which is dedicated to identifying alternative ways of using existing technology and designing new solutions. Headed by newly appointed Technical Director, Tobben Tymons, this team works in support of the business and its customer base to develop innovative answers to industry challenges.

READ’s business is production and integrity evaluation. With 25 years of concentrated cased hole logging experience and a solid track record of delivering assured diagnostics, READ supports its customers with the high-value well intelligence they require to make qualified decisions about their wells, quickly.

A wider global customer base

Chief Executive Officer, Roy Martin, said: “This has been a year of significant growth, investment and change for READ. We are developing relationships with new customers around the world every day and targeting markets with a clear focus on bringing our technological capabilities and precision diagnostic excellence to a wider global customer base.

“The significant progress made in securing a foothold in Asia and delivering for a new customer in this region is hugely encouraging and is representative of the enormous scope we see across our target markets for our expertise.

“Operators today are faced with ever-more challenging production and integrity issues across the lifecycle of their wells and the life of their fields. We are acutely aware of how high the stakes are in well integrity and production. Our customers need clear, concise and understandable well integrity and production evaluation information, designed to minimize risk, maximize safety and deliver profitability.

“The challenges they face can be complex, but READ’s response is simple – the complex does not need to be complicated. Our job is simply to enable our customers to make the right decisions for their well, quickly and with confidence.”

An exciting new era for READ

READ will shortly celebrate 25 years in business and is marking that milestone when it unveils a new brand identity at this year’s SPE ICoTA European Well Intervention Conference in Aberdeen (November 12-13), at which it is the event’s platinum sponsor.

SPE ICoTA delegates will also learn how READ has developed new and innovative methods of adapting existing technologies to meet the specific needs of its customers to help them to truly know their wells.

A presentation by Tobben Tymons will explore an innovative approach to complex well integrity issues facing the industry today. It will focus on how the company developed a 3D well accessibility modelling technique to provide clarity to an operator faced with restrictions caused by well deformation.

Mr Martin added: “This is an exciting time for READ. As we enter a new era for our business, we are preparing for 2015 with high expectations of continued success and significant advances in the technological solutions we bring to our customers through our expertise, dedication and ongoing investment in this area.

“We are proud to be platinum sponsor of this year’s SPE ICoTA conference and look forward to further developing our business networks at this important event, and to reinforcing our position as the specialist in production and integrity evaluation.”
